Another commanding performance from Arif al Zafeen and Nadir bin Hendi in Victory 3, around a tight and at times perilous course on lake Como means they retain the European Class 1 crown to add to the class 3 title they won just a few weeks earlier a few hundred kilometres south of Cernobbio.
The 70 nautical mile race seemed to be in the bag after a perfect start for the Dubai based pair, but a red flag and 2 laps under the pace boat due to an accident for Fendi 10, meant that a running restart behind the pace boat left an opportunity for the opposition to snatch a un-expected victory from the afternoons racing. But Arif and Nadir were up to the challenge and eventually finished the race 20 seconds clear of the next boat.
A broken propeller shaft unfortunately left Ahmed al Hameli and Majed al Mansoori retiring from the race whilst they held second position.
