Multiple world powerboat champions Victory Team have signed five-time world champion jet-ski rider Kevin Reiterer to compete at the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championships this year.

Reiterer, who will turn 26 in August, was presented to the media as Victory Team’s latest member by Huraiz Al Mur Huraiz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Victory Team in the presence of Board Member Ghanem Al Marri and Chris Wilkinson, the new manager of the aquabike division.

During the course of the 2018-’19 season, Victory Team will be participating in various watersports disciplines around the world, including the UIM Formula One, F2 and F4 powerboat championships. With the addition of the young Austrian rider, the Dubai-based team has ventured out further on their ambitions of dominating the world of watersports racing.

“This is our first step towards dominating another category of watersports racing,” Huraiz told media after officially unveiling Reiterer as the latest Victory Team crew member.

“One more world title is what we are thinking about as we set out on this new venture. Kevin is already an established world champion with five titles against his name. So I doubt he will be falling short in achieving his personal goal and those of Victory Team,” Huraiz added.

The chairman of the board further disclosed that the bigger picture will be to establish a fully functioning squad of young riders from the UAE under the tutorship of the world champion from Austria. “We are looking at the value Kevin brings into the team. Young riders will want to emulate him and continue with the Victory Team philosophy of being the first each time we compete,” Huraiz noted.

Reiterer is scheduled to commence the new season in the Ski GP1 Division at the opening round of the2018 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championships to be held in Gallipoli, Italy, from May 25-27. The second round will move off to nearby Olbia in Italy followed by a couple of rounds in China with Nansha (September 14-16) and Shanghai (September 21-23)being the destinations. The riders will then turn to the UAE for the final two rounds in Dubai (November15-17) and finally in Sharjah (December 11-14).

Reiterer was confident chasing a sixth world title after signing up with Victory Team. The Austrian rider, who won his first world title in 2009, was not too perturbed about his vision aligning with that of his new team. “I get a good feeling deep down. I am now with a team that can make things possible for me as a professional. I get the chance to teach, to train and improve and at the same time assist in research and the development of my sport,” Reiterer said.

“I am here to win a sixth world title and I will not stop at anything before I achieve this goal,” he promised.

Victory Team’s Board Member Ghanem Al Marri was looking confidently at an additional benefit through the entire exercise. “We needed to branch out and do something different so that we could make an impact in a totally new discipline of watersports. Today, Victory Team is seen as the ultimate and truly professional set-up for powerboat racing. Now it is time to turn our attention to aquabikes and take ourselves to the peak there too,” Al Marri said
